Face to Face Counselling
Face-to-face counselling is delivered from two venues in York.
I work at the York Clinic for Integrated Healthcare, Tadcaster Road, YO24 1ET. This is on the bus route from the city centre and has off-street parking.
I also work at Miller's Yard, Gillygate, YO31 7EB. This is a 10 minute walk from the train station.
Both counselling rooms are up one flight of stairs.
A Covid-19 risk assessment is in place that I will follow in order to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission during our sessions. This includes not attending sessions if either of us has symptoms of Covid-19, have tested positive for Covid, or if we have been asked to self-isolate. I will ventilate the room and clean all touch points between sessions. I will complete a lateral flow test on the day of our session and I am fully immunised.
Please bring your own drink, pen and paper to the session.
Face-to-face sessions may be suspended if a local or national lockdown is re-introduced or if either of us have symptoms of Covid-19, tested positive or asked to self-isolate.
You have a journey to and from counselling that can give you some reflection time to prepare for the session and to wind down afterwards
It may feel easier to build a relationship with your counsellor face-to-face
As we can see the whole of each other, there may be less misunderstanding compared to telephone or online counselling
Sessions may feel more personal leading to a deeper level of understanding
Being in the same space as your counsellor can develop skills to communicate how you are feeling that may help you to manage your emotions
